Appendici CITES: la Capra ibex non è protetta dalla convenzione CITES ma salvaguardata dai paesi di origine come l’Italia e la Svizzera. Altrespecie del genere Capra, invece, sono protette anche dalla comvenzione CITES.
COMMERCIO: Viene cacciato soprattutto per le corna (trofeo di caccia) e per il mantello.
CARATTERISTICHE: Lo stambecco presenta, come caratteristiche fisiche, lunghezza compresa tra 115 e 150 cm, altezza tra i 65 e gli 85 cm, peso tra i 40 ed i 110 kg. Gli adulti sono riconoscibili per il mantello estivo fitto ma non molto lungo, mentre i maschi anziani si distinguono per la barba. Gli stambecchi sono di colore grigio rossastro nelle parti superiori e chiaro in quelle inferiori, con una striscia bruna sul dorso. D’inverno il mantello è più fitto e più lungo mentre i colori sono più spenti.Le corna, strumento di minaccia, sono più sviluppate nei maschi (fino a 90 cm) che nelle femmine.
DISTRIBUZIONE: Lo stambecco vive attualmente nella Penisola Iberica, sulle Alpi, in Grecia, Asia Minore e Centrale e nell’Africa Nord-Orientale. Il genere è lo stesso, suddiviso in specie e sottospecie diverse che si differenziano nelle dimensioni, nel mantello e nella conformazione delle corna. La Capra ibex vive sulle Alpi.

CITES Appendix: Capra ibex is not protected by CITES convention but by some States of its original habitat such as Italy and Switzerland. other species of Capra are protected by CITES convention.
TRADE: Mainly hunted for horns (hunting trophy) and fur.
CHARACTERISTICS: Length between 115 and 150 cm, height between 65 and 85 cm, weight betwen 40 and 110 kg. Adults recognizable for thick but very long summer fur, and old males for the beard. Rock-goats have grey-red colour in superior parts and pale in the inferior with a grey stripe on the back. During winter, fur gets thicker and longer and colours get paler .Horns, menace instrument, are more developed in the males (up to 90 cm).
DISTRIBUTION: Live now in the Iberian peninsula, on the Alps, in Greece, Middle East, Central Asia and Northeastern Africa. The genus is the same, divided into various species and subspecies, which differ for dimensions, furs and horns shape. Capra ibex lives on the Alps.
