COMMERCIO: Sono oggetto di commercio sia gli animali imbalsamati che esemplari vivi, destinati ad acquari.
CARATTERISTICHE: ha dimensioni piuttosto ridotte, in media raggiunge 90 cm. Il carapace o parte dorsale, stretto e frastagliato, è composto da 5 piastre centrali e 4 su ogni lato. Il bordo è formato da 11 piastre. Il piastrone o parte ventrale è di colore chiaro. Il carapace presenta colori variabili molto gradevoli alla vista.
DISTRIBUZIONE: si registrano siti di nidificazione su spiagge tropicali e sub tropicali. Ne vengono avvistati alcuni individui anche in zone temperate: il Mediterraneo rientra nell’ habitat naturale di questa specie che tuttavia non è più presente nei nostri mari.

CHARACTERISTICS: a moderately small marine-turtle, generally it reaches 90 cm. The carapace is relatively narrow and stromgly serrated; it has 4 costal and 5 central shields usually 11 marginals. The plastron is clear yellow but the carapace is most attractive, higly variable with radiating streaks.
DISTRIBUTION: nesting recordered at scattered localities on beaches of tropical and sub-tropical saes. Wandering individuals occasionally recordered in temperate regions: Mediterranean sea was formerly part of its natural habitat but it is no more present in our seas.

COMMERCIO: non ha un grosso valore commerciale come altre specie, ma viene impagliata ed esposta come trofeo.
CARATTERISTICHE: misura, in età adulta, dagli 80 cm ai 110 cm. Il dorso o carapace è fine ed allungato, i bordi sono seghettati. Il carapace, di solito di un colore rosso scuro, è composto da 5 piastre centrali , 5 laterali . Il bordo è formato da 11-12 piastre. La parte pettorale è di solito costituita da 3 piastre inframarginali. DISTRIBUZIONE: si registrano luoghi di nidificazione su spiagge tropicali e sub-tropicali (Oceano Atlantico, Indiano, Pacifico e anche nel Mediterraneo) ma la popolazione totale è in netto declino.

TRADE: it is not as commercially valuable as other species, though it is sometimes stuffed by taxidermists.
CHARACTERISTICS: adults size from 80 to 110 cm. The carapace is low. Elegant with serrated margins. Usually red-brown, the carapace has 5 central and 5 costal shields and 11 or 12 marginal shields. Plastron is usually composed by 3 inframarginal shields.
DISTRIBUTION: nesting recordered on beaches of tropical, sub-tropical and temperate seas (Atlantic, Indian. Mediterrean, Pacific) but populations are totally declining.
